Green News

This year the Green-Schools Committee is focusing on Water. Having completed the Energy and Waste theme, we are working towards our third Green Flag for Water in 2012.
As part of the Environmental Review the Committee members found out how many taps and toilets there are in the school building and prefab. They discovered where the school's water comes from and visited the local Castlelake Water Treatment Plant. A water meter was installed in October 2010. We monitor water consumption on a weekly basis.

Our Motto
Our motto is: "Drip, drop, please turn that water off".

The Green Code
The Green Code was decided by the committee members using suggestions from the pupils. It is displayed on the Green-Schools Noticeboard. It states our commitment to environmentally-friendly actions and reflects the activities outlined in our Action Plan.

- We will use paper/cardboard wisely.
- We compost all our organic waste.
- We reuse plastic containers and then recyle them.
- We turn off lights and switch off sockets when not in use.
- We keep windows and doors closed when heating is on.
- Use water sparingly.
- We bin any litter we cannot recyle.
- We recycle printer cartridges and mobile phones.
